Clement told IndieWire the special will be timed alongside their upcoming UK tour.
The special is set to include beloved old content as well as new material to be written over the next few months.
"It should be fun. In real life we're dads now. The trickiest thing about touring again is getting used to your instrument again."
Clement also confirmed that a US television adaptation of 2014 vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows is in development.
"It's pretty close, we're going to film a pilot," Clement told IndieWire.
The announcement comes after Clement recently wrapped a six-episode shoot of Wellington Paranormal, a New Zealand based television spinoff of What We Do in the Shadows expected to premiere later this year.
The show centres around two Wellington police officers who investigate ghosts, werewolves, and other paranormal creatures.
