The Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire director said he'll make the 007 film after his next project, which is a comedy written by New Zealand-born Richard Curtis.
Boyle told Metro that his regular collaborator John Hodge is working on a script for Bond 25 and that it'll begin filming at the end of the year.
"We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really," he said.
"We've got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away."
The 25th James Bond film is scheduled for release in November, 2019.
Boyle's involvement has not been officially confirmed by MGM.
