A sedated, smoking Sean Penn has delivered Stephen Colbert one of the strangest bits of television he's yet produced on The Late Show.
The Dead Man Walking actor began the interview by saying he was on the sedative Ambien and later mysteriously claimed Netflix would be "paying off settlements for years".
Penn smoked multiple cigarettes during the segment and also said he didn't want to do much more acting.
"I increasingly don't play well with others," he said.
"It's all about where you engage in an expression, creatively, one way or another. [Acting is] all about the collaboration.
"So it becomes less enjoyable... as I get older. I love that process when I love it, but I'm not loving it anymore."
Instead of acting, Penn is more interested in writing.
He was on The Late Show to promote his satirical debut novel, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff.
The full interview is viewable in two parts on YouTube.
