Boyzone, one of the biggest pop groups of the late 1990s, have finally called it a day - 25 years after they formed.

The Ronan Keating-led group say their next album will be their last - and it will include vocals from former member Stephen Gately, who died of a congenital heart defect in 2009.

Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith will also feature on the record, reports The Sun.

The band say family commitments and their solo careers are taking up too much time to keep Boyzone a going concern.

"The album will be out either this year or next," said Keating. "We're trying to get it finished, it's been really enjoyable."

Boyzone have had 21 UK top 40 singles and six number ones, including 'You Needed Me', 'All That I Need' and 'No Matter What'. In New Zealand, 'No Matter What', 'You Needed Me' and 'I Love the Way You Love Me' hit the top spot in 1998 and 1999.

In their native UK, they were the second-most successful of the 1990s boy bands, behind Take That.
