Warning: Contains Riverdale spoilers.
On-screen lovers Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have appeared together as a couple for the first time today at the 2018 Met Gala in New York City.
Rumours have been swirling for months that the on-screen Riverdale couple are together in real life, after being spotted together at PaleyFest in March and photographed on a Mexican getaway in April.
They never publicly confirmed their off-screen romantic status, but appearing together on the red carpet just about does it.
The duo's respective characters, Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones, are one of the most popular couples on the CW show, which can be watched on Netflix in New Zealand.
Sprouse, 25, wore a Thom Browne tuxedo to the Gala, and Reinhart, 21, sported a custom silver H&M dress made of silver lamé organza.
Sprouse opened up to People magazine late last year about their decision not to speak openly about their relationship.
"Lili and I are constantly talked about in the public eye, and for me I think that it is being deeply informed by the love of the characters and wanting to see us together.
"I think that in many ways it's offensive and an invasion of privacy, but it's also a badge of honour because it means you're creating a chemistry onscreen that is so understandable that people want to see it in real life, which is flattering from a professional perspective."
