Joshua 'JP' Patterson, of reality TV show Made In Chelsea fame, has cited Jonah Lomu as his "idol".
The British reality TV star revealed the legendary All Black as his inspiration in an Instagram post that announced his new role as an Adidas ambassador.
"Twenty years ago, I was an eight-year-old boy watching an Adidas advert featuring my idol Jonah Lomu," he said.
Patterson was a professional rugby player before joining the cast of UK reality show Made In Chelsea in 2015.
Elaborating on his long-standing admiration for Lomu, he wrote: "I saved up months of pocket money to go shopping with my dad to buy the exact boots Jonah had on in the advert."
Patterson could be referring to a commercial from the sports brand's 'Adidas Makes You Better' campaign, in which Lomu uses his speed and agility to save a dying fish.
The TV personality, who recently had a baby with co-star Binky Felstead, said his appointment to ambassador was "a massive step" in his career, adding: "PS to eight-year-old me, those boots paid off!"
