Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has announced a Ms Marvel movie is "definitely sort of in the works".
Introduced to the comics in 2013, Kamala Khan is a teen Pakistani-American Muslim based in the US who develops shape-shifting and special healing powers.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become the biggest movie franchise of all time, and Feige - its boss - says Ms Marvel will join it soon.
"Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson," Feige told the BBC.
"Ms Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel."
Captain Marvel will be released in 2019 after being postponed twice thanks to Spider-Man: Homecoming and the subsequent scheduling of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is out later this year.
Currently, Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War is in cinemas and breaking several international box office records.
