A fusion of classical instruments and classic dance bangers is coming to the Auckland Town Hall in September.
Synthony, a celebration of dance music presented by Spark and George FM, is bringing the likes of Shapeshifter's lead singer P Digss together with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra.
George FM is advising audiences to "leave your nan at home", insisting the night will not be a "sit-down affair."
The trained instrumentalists of the ASO will be abandoning classical compositions in favour of the biggest dance hits of the last 30 years.
Performances by the 90-piece orchestra will be accompanied by lights and lasers, as well as a host of well-known Kiwi musicians.
Taking the stage will be singers Ria Hall and Helen Corry, along with DJs Greg Churchill and Dick Johnson.
