The total sum is more than five times the amount raised from the show's previous season, won by radio host Simon Barnett in 2015.
Kiwi audiences voted for their favourite celebrities' dancing prowess during the show's 10-week run earlier this year, with Newshub Live at 6 presenter Samantha Hayes taking out the glitter ball trophy in the finale.
"This show is only as good as the people who take part in it," MediaWorks Chief Content Officer Andrew Szusterman said in a press statement.
"Our celebrities and their professional dance partners are the driving force behind this incredible result.
"They were so dedicated to entertaining the country all in the name of charity, and the fans followed suit, texting in droves each week to vote for their favourites."
Each of the famous faces on the show selected a charity to represent as they battled it out on the dance floor in the hopes of raising as much money as possible.
Some of the local charities involved included New Zealand Riding for the Disabled, the Ka Pai Kaiti Trust and the Child Cancer Foundation.
