"I said, 'Wait, you're a human. You're a nice person. This is so refreshing,'" she said.
The three-time Grammy award winner said that thanks to the intensity of her spin routine they weren't actually able to have a drink together.
"She didn't drink beer. I didn't drink beer either 'cause I have to spin. It's not fun to spin after a beer," she said.
Audience member Dan Beban told Newshub that Pink also gushed her parents were in attendance.
"I think they are drinking, or having the beer I am supposed to be having," she said.
The 'Just Like a Pill' singer and her family are expected to be celebrating her 39th birthday on Saturday.
Pink thanked onlookers for having her, husband Carey Hart and two children Jameson, 1, and Willow, 7, back in "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful" New Zealand before leading into her next track.
The mother-of-two has been praised for her "artistic brilliance", with spellbinding acrobatics influenced by Cirque de Soleil, including trapeze.
She is on the Australasian leg of her Beautiful Trauma tour, playing three more shows on September 8, 10 and 11 before returning to Sydney.
