Donald Glover will still play his upcoming Auckland shows despite cancelling the Australian leg of his tour, Newshub has been told.

A source associated with Childish Gambino's tour has confirmed the Pharos Festival at Tapapakanga Regional Park will go ahead as planned on November 23 - 25.

Fans forked out $214 for the event, which is only the second time it's been held and will mark the first time it's taken place outside the US. It was previously held in California's Joshua Tree desert in 2016, where it took place inside a large virtual reality dome and phones were banned.

Ticketholders for the Auckland shows have been asked to dress in their "frequency colour", which according to the ticket-purchasing app is green.

Glover, the star of Atlanta and Solo: A Star Wars Story, announced via social media on Sunday that he would be unable to play four dates in Australia next month, including Canberra's Split Milk festival.

"I'm not ready to put on 100 percent shows. Apologies to the fans. I will be back soon," he said.

Over the weekend he also cancelled a performance at Voodoo Festival in New Orleans.

Live Nation released a statement on Glover's cancellations, explaining he injured his foot at a Dallas concert last month.
