'I've made a lot of mistakes' - Scribe teases 'amazing news' after release from prison

Kiwi rapper Scribe has penned an emotional note to his Instagram followers after being released from prison on Monday.

The 'Not Many' hitmaker, real name is Malo Ioane Luafutu, expressed regret for his past actions - but appeared optimistic about the future.

"Today I'm released from prison. In no way am I proud of that but I'll own it all day; every day," he wrote.

Scribe had been in custody since August, after being arrested for travelling to Motueka to perform at a concert in breach of his 24/7 curfew, according to Christchurch Court News.

"I've made a lot of mistakes in my life... many. But none have ever been as big as my comebacks," the post continued.

"I'm not gonna say I have all the answers now because I don't.

"I won't say I'm a changed man, because talk is cheap. Rather, I'll show you."

Scribe will reappear in court on December 13, charged with breaching a protection order and methamphetamine possession.

Despite his controversial past, Scribe said he had received "hundreds of letters of unwavering love and support".  He also teased that he had "some amazing news to announce at a later date".

"I'm merely a survivor of a broken community, a fallen city and an ever dysfunctional planet," he said.

In another post, he added: "They threw me to the wolves... I came back leading the pack."

Scribe has received hundreds of positive comments on the Instagram posts, with broadcasters including Teuila Blakely, Dom Harvey and Sharyn Casey among his supporters.
