Drax Project has come a long way since they were buskers in Wellington just a few years ago - on Thursday night, the Wellington four-piece rocked Auckland's Spark Arena at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMAs).
The group performed 'Woke Up Late', which has proven popular on Spotify, been supported thoroughly by Kiwi radio stations and been certified platinum by Recorded Music NZ.
'Woke Up Late' is also up for Single of the Year, along with Mitch James with '21', Robinson with 'Nothing To Regret', Six60 with 'Don't Give It Up', Sons Of Zion with 'Drift Away' and Unknown Mortal Orchestra with 'Hunnybee'.
In addition, Drax Project is nominated for Best Group, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Pop Artist.
It's just the latest milestone for the band, which has opened for the likes of Lorde, Ed Sheeran and Six60 in New Zealand, and Camila Cabello in Europe.
Drax Project is said to be working on its debut studio album, although a release date is yet to be announced.
