The couple met on the reality dating show, where the public chose them as the favourite duo. They later moved in with each other after filming wrapped.
According to The Sun, a source says the split is due to the pair's busy schedules.
"When they left the villa they really thought they would stay together forever, but reality soon set in and things started to get strained," the source said.
"They came out to a whirlwind of publicity, and after a while, things started to get to them and the cracks appeared.
"They are both incredibly busy and they have decided to call time on their romance."
Dyer penned an emotional note to fans on her Instagram story to explain the situation.
"Jack & I have sadly decided to part ways," she said.
"It's been an incredible six months, and we will always have a place in our hearts for each other, but sadly we've come to the realisation that it's not meant to be long term.
"We both plan to stay friends. I hope you'll all understand."
The reality TV stars were due to appear in a spin-off show following their lives together, which was confirmed by ITV.
OK Magazine reports a source from the network says Jack and Dani: Life After Love Island will still air as planned.
