Brown, also known as Scary Spice and Mel B, posted a selfie from hospital with her arm in a purple sling, telling fans she had undergone a three hour emergency surgery to repair the damage to her hand.
"Thank you to all the wonderful nurses, [doctors] and my amazing surgeon for the care and expertise given to me here at the hospital I've been staying at, suffering two broken ribs a severed right hand," she wrote.

While the Spice Girl explained she would be cancelling an upcoming book signing, she did not elaborate on what caused her injuries.
Entertainment Tonight reports that Brown had an accident while staying at a friend's house in London, where she fell down a narrow staircase during the night.
The report claims that she did not test positive for any drugs or alcohol at the hospital.
The former pop star told followers she was in pain, but being well looked after by the staff at the hospital, who she thanked.
A second Instagram post showed Brown's fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm at her bedside.
"When your besties show up to hospital with hugs, laugh and A LOT of love," she wrote.
Last month, the '90s girl group announced they would be embarking a six-date UK stadium tour in 2019. Victoria Beckham, the fifth member of the band, declined to take part.
