Director Spike Lee dropped an unexpected F-bomb before delivering an impassioned political speech as he accepted the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The BlackkKlansman director and co-writer rushed the stage and jumped to embrace Samuel L Jackson before addressing the award show's directors: "Don't turn that mother**king clock on!"
Lee paid tribute to his ancestors in his emotional speech, before asking the audience to connect with theirs.
"Before the world tonight, I praise our ancestors who helped built this country. We all connect with our ancestors who have love and wisdom, and who we gain our humanity," he said.
"The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let's all mobilise, let's all be on the right side of history.
"Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let's do the right the thing! You Know I had to get that in there."
The win marks Lee's first competitive Oscar. He received a standing ovation at the end of his speech.
