Prince William will touch down in Auckland on Thursday ahead of his visit to Christchurch with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to pay his respects to the community affected by the shootings.
But his arrival has so far attracted little fanfare compared to last year's visit from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Women's Day editor Sido Kitchin told The AM Show that while it would be a fleeting visit from the Duke of Cambridge, it was still significant for a member of the royal family to be in the country.
Prince William previously came to New Zealand in 2014 with Kate, Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince George.
Kitchin said her magazine would be following the itinerary, but it wouldn't be the same without his family alongside him.
