Orginal band members Brian May and Roger Taylor will be joined by American Idol alumni and long-time frontman Lambert for three shows in Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin.
"This is a great opportunity," May said in a statement.
"Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, New Zealand!"
Lambert has played over 180 gigs with the band since he first shared the American Idol stage with them in 2009. He said the 'We Will Rock You' hitmakers are promising to bring with them a "brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs".
The tour announcement comes off the back the success of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which picked up four Academy Awards earlier this year. The film has since become the highest grossing music biopic of all time.
Queen and Adam Lambert tour dates:
- Wednesday, February 5 - Wellington, Westpac Stadium
- Friday, February 7 - Auckland, Mt Smart Stadium
- Monday, February 10 - Dunedin, Forsyth Barr Stadium
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, April 17 at 10am.
