The first trailer for the film version of the musical Cats has been released and it's not getting the reception producers were hoping for.
Made using computer-generated imagery (CGI) and real human actors, the adaptation is said to feature cutting-edge "digital fur technology" that Universal Pictures hopes will blow people's minds.
But responses to the trailer are coming thick and fast, and not many of them are kind.

Rolling Stone says it's "arguably creepier than the It Chapter 2 trailer" released on the same day, while the New York Post labels it "absolutely terrifying".
On Twitter, 'Cats' quickly became the number one trending topic globally and in many countries, including New Zealand.
Kiwi filmmaker David Farrier described the trailer as "truly one of the most disgusting, unsettling, awful things I've watched in a long time and, therefore, great 2019 material".
Some fans are expressing excitement over the trailer, but many social media users are expressing horror and confusion.
Directed by Tom Hooper (Les Misèrables), the film stars Taylor Swift, Sir Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Dame Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, Jason Derulo and James Corden.
Cats will be released in New Zealand on Boxing Day.
