The actors playing Sonya Blade and Kano in an upcoming Mortal Kombat movie have been announced.
The Meg star Jessica McNamee will play Sonya, a general of Earthrealm Special Forces, while Australian actor Josh Lawson will play her arch-nemesis, Black Dragon clan member Kano.
Mortal Kombat, scheduled for release in 2021, is being produced by James Wan (Saw, Aquaman) and will be the directorial debut of Simon McQuoid, according to online reports.
The Hollywood Reporter first announced the casting of McNamee and Lawson, also reporting Deadpool 2 actor Lewis Tan "is in final negotiations to play an undisclosed lead character".

Based on the iconic game franchise of the same name, the upcoming Mortal Kombat film comes after previous big screen adaptations Mortal Kombat (1995) and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997).
