US popstar Miley Cyrus and Australian singer Cody Simpson have reportedly called quits on their whirlwind relationship.
Local media say the former Disney Channel star initiated the split but remains on good terms with the 22-year-old Aussie.
"They are taking a break but want to remain friends. She said she just needs to focus on herself," a source told RadarOnline.com.
The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker, 26, and Simpson went public with their relationship in October following rife speculation.
Cyrus' latest split follows the mourning of devastated fans when her divorce from Australian actor Liam Hemsworth was announced in August.
Hemsworth filed for divorce from Cyrus less than two weeks after the on-and-off couple's separation was confirmed.
The former couple, who met while filming the 2009 movie The Last Song, were married for seven months.
Cyrus' love life hit the headlines again when a rapid romance with actor Kaitlynn Carter quickly followed her divorce announcement.
She is reportedly open to rekindling a relationship with Simpson in the future.
