The first official look at Robert Pattinson as Batman, including his batsuit, has been unveiled.
The Twilight star takes on the role of the Caped Crusader in The Batman, a forthcoming film from filmmaker Matt Reeves.
The footage is very dark and very red, and set to an ominous score by composer Michael Giacchino.
It's intentionally broody and grim, coming after the huge success of Joker, Warner Bros' previous DC Comics adaptation that was particularly gloomy and po-faced.
As for the batsuit reveal, it's an armoured costume like that of the Arkham game series, along with what appears to be a cowl that's not dissimilar to that of animated film Gotham By Gaslight.
The bat emblem on the chest is metallic-looking, potentially constructed using firearm or engine parts.
Alongside Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, the upcoming film stars Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon.
The Batman is set to be released in June, 2021.
