Just when you thought Netflix's hit docuseries Tiger King couldn't get any stranger, here's a tidbit that makes things just a little bit weirder.
The internet is abuzz with memes, fan theories and incredulous questions about the show, so it was only a matter of time until online sleuths started to unearth more information about its stars.
One of the major players in the US' captive big cat scene is Bhagavan 'Doc' Antle, who made waves for his harem of wives and being hailed as a "mentor" by the main subject of the series, Joe Exotic. He also rides around on an elephant a lot.
Anyway, it appears Antle's Netflix debut wasn't his first time in the spotlight, having once shared the stage with Britney Spears for her performance of 'I'm A Slave 4 U' at the 2001 MTV VMAs.
Antle and his trademark long locks - albeit dark brown instead of grey back then - can be seen in a cage with Spears and a big old tiger at about 20 seconds in.
A Twitter user pointed this out along with an excerpt from a 2016 article written for the MTV website about the animals in the show. The story names Antle as the tiger handler for the performance.
Both Antle and the tiger may have been somewhat overlooked, as the performance went down in history for Spears' wearing a live, 7-foot-long albino Burmese python around her neck.
Antle's role in the iconic performance came to light after another Twitter user posted a photo of Spears at the VMAs a year later in 2002, where they allege she's sitting next to Carole Baskin, another of Tiger King's subjects.
Whether or not the leopard-print clad audience member is in fact Baskin is yet to be confirmed.
