Joe Exotic, the main subject of Netflix's hit docuseries Tiger King, has reportedly been hospitalised after contracting COVID-19 while in prison.
International media outlets initially reported Exotic had been quarantined as a precautionary measure after transferring to a new jail, however UK tabloid The Mirror reports he has caught coronavirus.
The Mirror cites texashomepage.com, which claims the 57-year-old big cat breeder tested positive for the virus before being moved to hospital.
Exotic's fifth husband, 24-year-old Dillon Passage, said there had been confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Exotic's previous jail.
"I've yet to speak to him since he moved," Passage told SiriusXM Radio.
Passage said that he will remain loyal to his husband, despite the fact the former zoo owner is serving a 22-year sentence after he was found guilty of murder for hire and violating the Endangered Species Act.
"I do love Joe, he's been there for me through my darkest times and I'm not just going to dip out and abandon him when he needs me most.
"I am very loyal to Joe. He doesn't want me to be alone, you know. But he also doesn't want me to move on, if that makes sense," Passage said in the radio interview.
"He doesn't want me to leave, that's his thing. But I've assured him that I'm not."
