A sketch depicting New Zealand's Prime Minister and Director-General of Health as superheroes has sold for $6350 on Trade Me.
The artwork made by Auckland artist Jason Hoyt features Jacinda Ardern wearing a Wonder Woman costume under her jacket and Ashley Bloomfield revealing a Superman logo under his.
The auction racked up a total of 241 bids and at least 80 questions from Trade Me users, many of whom were simply chiming in with their praise for the piece.
"What a talent you have, to do all of that with a few simple materials, stunning," one user wrote.
"You have captured the emotion, a ship of 5 million Kiwis being steered by an amazing captain with an equally great navigator avoiding most of the covered icebergs. A Titanic achievement, probably the greatest saving of Kiwi lives ever, well done you."
Other comments asked for reprints of the work to be made available for purchase.
"I'm a nurse and unfortunately can't bid any higher," one user wrote.
"But would love to put this in my baby’s room to remember these heroes during this time."
Last week Hoyt told Newshub he was happy with the $425 the auction had raised at that time, but was interested to see how much higher the price could go.
In 2019, Hoyt's drawing of a nude Ardern on horseback was removed by Trade Me after being deemed "inappropriate".
