More FM host Jay-Jay Feeney and her long-distance Algerian beau Minou have called it quits, having struck up a romance via mutual friends online in 2018.
Feeney confirmed the split to Newshub, saying the relationship is "just impossible in current circumstances".
The 45-year-old broadcaster and her 28-year-old boyfriend kept their relationship under wraps at first, but went public with their love story in October 2019.
Having met in secret several times overseas, Minou arrived in New Zealand late last year for a whirlwind tour of the country which Feeney documented for her fans on social media.
After spending Christmas with her friends and family, Minou returned home in January. Feeney bid him a tearful farewell at the airport, telling fans she wasn't sure when she would be able to see him again via an emotional Instagram update.
"It sucks a lot," Feeney said of the break-up. "But maybe one day we can re-assess."
Feeney was previously married to fellow radio broadcaster Dom Harvey for 13 years. The pair spent nearly two decades as a couple and much of that time as co-hosts on The Edge, announcing their separation on-air in 2017.
