Cardi B's new single 'WAP' is breaking streaming records, topping charts and grabbing headlines, but she isn't happy with one particular group of fans.
The rapper shared a video of a throng of young Donald Trump supporters dancing to the track - with the explicit words censored - at their Trump 2020 Boat Party. Cardi B made it clear she wasn't impressed with the group, who donned MAGA hats and were flying Trump flags.
"Wasn't a Republican conservative throwing a little fit bout this song?" she asked, referring to right-wing commentator Ben Shaprio's widely ridiculed criticism of the song's explicit lyrics.
"Anyways this makes my ass itchy," she added.
The 27-year-old rapper threatened to "call the FBI on this festivity" pointing out that the large group of MAGA guys and girls were not social-distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In spite of outrage from figures like Shaprio, criticism about the use of big cats in the music video from Tiger King's Carole Baskin, and anger at the inclusion of a Kylie Jenner cameo in a video otherwise featuring black female artists, 'WAP' has debuted at number one on the Billboard charts this week.
According to Nielsen Music/MRC data, the track made history by pulling in a total of 93 million streams in the US alone in just six days - the most for any song ever in its first week of release.
