Sony's PlayStation 5 gaming console will release in New Zealand on November 12 with a price of $819.95.
A digital only version of the console without a disc drive will launch on the same day for $649.95.
The news follows Microsoft announcing its rival console the Series X will launch in Aotearoa two days earlier on November 10 for $799, alongside a cheaper, less powerful Series S for $549.
The PS5 price and release date was revealed in a livestreamed showcase that included new looks at several upcoming games for the console.

- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Resident Evil Village
- Deathloop
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition

A brief teaser for God of War: Ragnarok also announced it will be releasing next year.
The PS5's release date marks the fourth time a Sony gaming console has had a November release date in New Zealand.
The PlayStation 4 launched in New Zealand on November 29, 2013 for the price of $649. The Xbox One launched a week earlier on November 22, 2013 for the higher initial price of $749.
The first ever PlayStation launched in Aotearoa on November 15, 1994, before the PS2 on November 30, 2000 and the PS3 on March 24, 2007.
