A lot has changed for Benee since last year's music awards, but one thing remained the same: for the second year running, she walked home with four Tui trophies.
In 2019, she performed her song 'Soaked', pulling a thigh muscle with an adventurous high kick move and swore her way through her acceptance speeches, utterly overwhelmed with her success.
On Sunday night's 2020 Aotearoa Music Awards (AMA), there was less effing and jeffing and she remained injury-free, but there was no doubt the 20-year-old had transitioned from rising star to bonafide pop sensation.
"This is wild," she told the crowd at Spark Arena on Sunday night, having scooped up Single of the Year, Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist and an International Achievement award.
Possibly beginning to come to terms with her place at the forefront of the Kiwi music scene, Benee told Newshub she could actually process a bit of emotion this time around.
"I teared up... I feel like I get so emotional and freaked out that I just completely go blank and don't feel anything, but I did feel something this time."
That something? "A lot of love," the 'Supalonely' hitmaker said.
Flanked by her bandmates, each clutching a golden Tui, there was only one thing left to do - decide where all the trophies would live.
