Joe Rogan, Stuff You Should Know top Spotify, Apple's NZ podcast charts for 2020

The popularity of podcasts has exploded in recent years and now the most listened to shows in New Zealand for 2020 have been revealed.

Spotify is said to have paid US$100 million to Joe Rogan for rights to his podcast and that is looking like a sound investment - The Joe Rogan Experience topped the streaming platform's charts for both Aotearoa and the entire world. 

At the top of the list for Apple Podcasts is Stuff You Should Know, which has consistently ranked in the Top 10 on iTunes since it launched in 2008.

Sex advice and comedy podcast Call Her Daddy is a hit on both platforms, landing number seven for Apple and number five on Spotify.

RNZ and Stuff's award-winning co-production White Silence, a documentary series about the Mount Erebus disaster, is the only New Zealand-made podcast on either chart.
