Reality TV star Kylie Jenner celebrated her daughter Stormi's third birthday by flouting COVID-19 guidelines yet again, enjoying a dreamy island getaway.
Kylie is known for hosting extravagant parties for Stormi's birthdays and while this year there was no big party, the pair still celebrated in luxury, staying three nights at a private villa in Turks and Caicos, despite the deadly COVID-19 pandemic raging at home in Los Angeles.
They were joined by Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Dream Kardashian, True Thompson, Penelope Disick, North West, and Chicago West.
"It was a girls' trip to celebrate Stormi's birthday in one of their favourite places. They stayed at a private villa where they have often stayed in the past," an unnamed source told E! News.
California, where the sisters all live, is strongly discouraging any travel, asking residents not to travel more than 190km from their homes and to avoid non-essential travel. The state has recorded 3.31 million COVID-19 cases over the course of the pandemic and 40,908 deaths, with many people struggling to even receive tests.
Turks and Caicos is open to tourists under the condition all travellers aged 10 and up receive a negative COVID-19 test taken at most five days before arrival.
Photos from the island have littered the Jenner/Kardashian sisters' Instagram accounts with no attempt to conceal the frowned-upon trip.
"They stayed for three nights and had a great vacation spending time at the beach, swimming, taking boat rides and playing in the sand," a source told E! News.
"They flew on Kylie's jet and had a great few days celebrating Stormi. They took off and headed home on Friday night to have more birthday celebrations for Stormi in LA."
Social media users have criticised the family's jet setting: "Isn't that nice. While the rest of us are told to stay home only for essential travel," one Facebook user wrote.
Others defended the family, arguing that because they travel privately, the risk of spreading COVID-19 is lessened.
"I guarantee you if everyone had that kind of money they'd be on their private jets going to a private villa right now. I would! There are ways to travel and still be safe. Everyone is just jealous."
It's not the first time Kylie has disregarded restrictions, she made headlines in September for managing to travel to Paris during the pandemic, it was later found she had a business exemption for the trip.
"It must be nice to be Kylie Jenner and not have travel bans apply to you just because you're a rich celebrity," one Twitter user wrote of the Paris getaway.
The makeup mogul made a trip to Mexico just last week and was spotted popping over to Aspen, Colorado to ski a few weeks prior.
