Samantha Hayes has announced she is pregnant, expecting her second child with partner Jeroen 'Jay' Blaauw.
The Newshub Live at 6pm presenter shared the news on social media where she noted that "a few eagle-eyed viewers" had guessed that she was expecting.
"Jay, Marlow and I are super excited to share we are having another baby!" Hayes wrote alongside an Instagram photo of her cradling her bump alongside her fiancé and son Marlow.
"A few eagle-eyed Newshub viewers guessed and they were right! Marlow is going to be a beautiful big brother and we can’t wait to become a family of four in the spring."
Blaauw and Hayes welcomed their first-born Marlow in September 2019. The news broadcaster bid an emotional goodbye to her "Newshub family" when she went on maternity leave on September 12 that year, saying she was "heading off to start a family of her own".
In January this year, Hayes shared news of another milestone - Blaauw had proposed to her just before Christmas 2020, and the pair were looking forward to getting married.
"Jay and I met by chance in Brazil six years ago. Life would have been very different if the 6’6” Dutchman hadn’t walked into my life and made me a cup of tea in a hostel kitchen in Sao Paulo," she wrote at the time.
"I love him so much, and more each day as I see what an amazing Dad he is to Marlow."
