Kanoa Lloyd has announced she and husband Mikee Carpinter are expecting their first child together.
The host of The Project NZ shared the happy news during Friday night's show, where she told viewers she was leaving the show - on maternity leave.
"I am leaving The Project… on maternity leave!" she joked, the audience erupting into gasps and applause.
"I've got the coolest baby daddy in the world," she added, the camera panning to dad-to-be Carpinter, who was part of the live studio audience for the special moment.
"I'm really excited. I'm going to be picking all your parent brains for what I'm supposed to do!"
Newshub anchors Samantha Hayes and Mike McRoberts were quick to offer their congratulations, with Hayes excitedly pointing out another "Newsbub" is on the horizon.
Lloyd's co-hosts Jeremy Corbett and Jesse Mulligan gave the mum-to-be an adorable onesie - emblazoned with their faces.
"This is the best!" Lloyd grinned. "Adorable but terrifying."
In an Instagram post celebrating the impending arrival, shared after the show, Lloyd wrote: "I feel very lucky to be able to say that I’m becoming a māma this year, and that this cool guy gets to be a cool dad!"
"Nau mai haere mai lil bubba," she captioned the snaps of her cradling her bump with Carpinter by her side.
Lloyd and Carpinter have been married since 2016, after he proposed to her during a holiday in Japan. The pair have been together for nearly a decade.
Lloyd celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary with Carpinter in December last year, sharing a photo along with the words: "It's been really fun being married to you, I think we should keep it up."
