Hailey Bieber says she "regrets" in interaction with a New York waitress who went on to give her a negative review on TikTok, where she rates her experiences with various celebrities.
In a video titled 'Cancel culture, mental health and social media' uploaded to Bieber's YouTube channel, the model addressed the clip shared by TikTokker Julia Carolan, saying she "made a mistake".
"She did [a TikTok] about me and she's like, 'You know, I didn't have a great experience with her. I just didn't feel like she was that nice'," Bieber told psychiatrist Dr Jessica Clemons.
"When I saw her video, I was so upset. There's never an excuse for being rude. I felt bad that that was her experience with me, but it made me kind of frustrated because you never know what someone's going through," she continued.
"I remember going through times in my life where I was so sad and so heartbroken that engaging with people felt hard for me."
Bieber said she didn't actually recall meeting the waitress, but had regrets about the interaction, insisting it was "out of character" for her.
"I wish I didn't act that way towards her. I'm a human and I made a mistake, and I acted in a way that was out of character for me," she said.
"I just don't think that those people that try to correct me and try to tell me what I need to be and what I need to do need to be [on social media]."
Bieber commented on the original video when it was posted on TikTok in June 2020, apologising for any "bad vibes or bad attitude" she had.
"That's not ever my intention!" she wrote.
