A social media influencer has shared a video she says was sent to her by Hollywood heavyweight Ben Affleck after she unmatched him on a celebrity dating app.
TikTok user Nivine Jay shared the clip after Affleck made headlines for being seen hanging out at his ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez's house recently, following her high-profile split from Alex Rodriguez.
Whether Affleck and Lopez are just friends remains to be seen, but it appears the Batman star has been dabbling in the world of online dating and dreaming up unconventional approaches to securing a match.
Actress and influencer Jay uploaded a clip of herself shaking her head while recalling how she connected with Affleck on the exclusive dating site Raya, but later unmatched with him because she thought his account was fake.
She then shared footage of Affleck asking her: "Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It's me," claiming the actor had tracked her down on Instagram and slid into her DMs with the personal video message.
The Oscar winner's bold move garnered mixed reactions on social media, with some dubbing it "desperate", "creepy" and "cringy", while others were impressed with his commitment.
"If you're ever wondering what rock bottom looks like," one tweet read.
"This is so embarrassing, please," wrote another.
Meanwhile, a third wondered "why this is a thing", adding "dude is single, trying to live his best life, shoot your shot Ben Affleck".
One user pointed out that Affleck was simply addressing Jay's concerns about his account's authenticity, albeit in a "cringy way".
Other social media commentators were simply jealous that Jay had received any attention from Affleck, with one TikTok user writing: "The way he said 'it's me', my soul would have left my body."
Jay's TikTok has been viewed over 1 million times.
