Mitch McCann and Oriini Kaipara have been announced as the hosts of Newshub Live at 11.30am and Newshub Live at 4.30pm respectively.
Kaipara is of Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Rangitihi and Ngāi Tūhoe descent and has been a journalist for nearly two decades, with comprehensive experience in reporting on Māori affairs.
Meanwhile, McCann has been permanently appointed to the role of host for Newshub's 11.30am bulletin, having filled in for several months. McCann has been with Newshub for more than five years, covering a number of significant stories both at home and overseas.
Newshub Senior Director of News Sarah Bristow said she "couldn't be happier" to introduce the seasoned journalists to the Newshub audience as anchors and reporters on a permanent basis.
"I have long admired Oriini for her mahi and know she will be a tremendous addition to our reporting and presenting team at Newshub, adding her valued expertise in covering Kaupapa Māori issues," Bristow said in a statement.
"Mitch also has my utmost respect as a journalist who has fronted Newshub's special coverage for some of the most challenging stories of our time, he is one of New Zealand's most exciting up and coming broadcasters."
Kaipara said she was "thrilled" to be joining Discovery and becoming a part of the Newshub whānau.
"I look forward to leading effective and positive change where Māori issues and interests are respectfully conveyed and relayed on our platforms - where our voices and stories are told fairly, accurately, and objectively," she said in a statement.
"I do not take this challenge lightly and trust that the mana of my people remains with me as I take on this new journey for all of us."
McCann said he was "excited" to join Newshub's presenting line up on a permanent basis, making him a part of "a strong team of respected award-winning journalists fronting our bulletins".
"Newshub has more bulletins than any other network in the country, and I'm grateful to be delivering news to our growing audience," he said.
Along with the 11.30am and 4.30pm bulletins, the Newshub footprint includes Newshub Live at 6pm, Newshub Late, The AM Show, The Project, Newshub Nation, The Hui and online news platform newshub.co.nz.
