Lorde fans rejoice about impending arrival of new single, 'Stoned At The Nail Salon'

Lorde has announced her next single 'Stoned At The Nail Salon' will be dropping this week, delighting fans who have been holding out for more music from her upcoming album.

An update on the singer's website declared the latest track from Solar Power - the fourth song listed on the album - would be dropping on July 21.

Lorde previously made mention of the song in an interview with The Guardian, where it was revealed one of the lyrics was: "All the beautiful girls will fade like the roses."

The 24-year-old said that revelation was "truly the first time that I had entertained the notion that the sexy models on Instagram who made me feel inferior – they too will age."

With very little else to go on, fans remained undeterred that 'Stoned At The Nail Salon' was about to become their new favourite song, with some noting it had already been added to Spotify's New Music Friday playlist - albeit not yet able to be played.

"I just know 'Stoned At The Nail Salon' will serve so hard," one Twitter user wrote.

"I'M SO EXCITED FOR STONED AT THE NAIL SALON IT DOESN'T FEEL REAL YOU KNOW? WE'VE WAITED SO LONG AND SHE'S FINALLY RELEASING MUSIC, AM I ALIVE? I DON'T KNOW BUT I LOVE ELLA," said another.

"'Stoned At The Nail Salon' about to become my most played song I fear," one tweet mused.

"OMG LEMME CALL MY NEAREST SALON AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT," a fourth read.

Lorde will appear on Late Night with Seth Myers on the show's 'Day Drinking' segment on the day of the song's release, and is also scheduled to perform, leading fans to speculate she might debut 'Stoned At The Nail Salon' there.

It's certainly not the first time the singer has referenced marijuana as of late - in the music video for her impending album's title track 'Solar Power', she puffs on a fennel-bulb-turned-bong, and revealed she voted a strong 'yes' in the referendum to legalise cannabis in Aotearoa. In a recent email to fans describing a summer's night at her home with friends, she included the line: "The lady of the house consumes an edible."
