Newshub anchor Samantha Hayes bid an emotional farewell on Friday night during her last 6pm bulletin before taking maternity leave.
Hayes and her partner, Jeroen 'Jay' Blaauw, announced they were expecting their second baby in March after "a few eagle-eyed viewers" had guessed the presenter was pregnant.
During her final show on Friday night, Hayes was presented with a bouquet of flowers from co-presenter Mike McRoberts.
"I'm very emotional. Don't make me cry," she said.
"It seems to have come around really quickly but it's time for me to go and be like [the viewers] - tuning in from the couch every night.
"I might send you a few emails, Mike, to keep you on your toes. But looking forward to heading off to have my second baby and quite frankly, it is time to put my feet up for a little bit."
She said her son Marlow - who was born in September 2019 - is "very excited" about his new sibling.
"I hope that the enthusiasm sticks around," she said.
Hayes will be returning to Newshub Live at 6pm in the new year, but for now Melissa Chan-Green will present the nightly news bulletin alongside McRoberts.
While Chan-Green and McRoberts will present weeknights, Sacha McNeil and Tom McRae will take the reins on weekends.
