Adele has revealed her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019 left her feeling "f**king devastated" and "embarrassed".
Speaking candidly to Rolling Stone ahead of the release of her new album 30, in which she reflects often on the end of her relationship, Adele said she "didn't really know herself" at the time.
"I thought I did. I don't know if it was because of my Saturn return or if it was because I was well and truly sort of heading into my thirties, but I just didn't like who I was," she said.
Adele and Konecki share a nine-year-old son, Angelo, who she previously said had lots of "innocent questions" at the time of the divorce, which she hoped to answer in some way through the record, for him to listen to and understand when he was older.
"It made me really sad," she said of the split.
"Then having so many people that I don't know, know that I didn't make that work... it f**king devastated me. I was embarrassed.
"No one made me feel embarrassed, but you feel like you didn't do a good job."
Adele added that she briefly tried dating but only "lasted five seconds" in the Los Angeles dating scene, quickly recognising that going on blind dates set up by her friends wasn't an option.
"You can't set me up on a f**king blind date! I'm like, 'How's that going to work?'
"There'll be paparazzi outside and someone will call [gossip site] Deuxmoi, or whatever it's f**king called! It ain't happening."
Adele is now dating sports agent Rich Paul, who she met at a birthday party for a mutual friend.
Her new album 30 will be released on November 19 - the first record in around six years from the Grammy winner.
