A survey of thousands of Kiwi television fans has found that Breaking Bad is their number one favourite TV series ever made.
Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, The Wire and Friends round out the top five, while The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Twin Peaks and M*A*S*H feature in the top ten.
Squid Game, released just this year, managed to claim a spot in the top 15.
The poll was conducted by film and television website Flicks.co.nz over four weeks and generated over 10,000 votes.
Many of the participants took part while living through COVID-19 alert level restrictions amid the Delta outbreak, which may have influenced their viewing habits.
"Some of the classic shows on this list, like The Sopranos, enjoyed a fresh wave of popularity during lockdown," said Flicks.co.nz editor Steve Newall.
"And while this may change in future polls, no shows exclusive to streaming have cracked the top ten, even as Squid Game's huge recent popularity saw it leap the likes of Mad Men into 13th place.
"Please spare a thought for Joe Exotic, with Tiger King - voted most-watched show in our lockdown survey last year - only picking up a single, solitary, vote in the poll."
The top 15 greatest TV shows of all time, according to the poll, are as follows:
- Breaking Bad
- Game of Thrones
- The Sopranos
- The Wire
- Friends
- The Simpsons
- M*A*S*H
- Seinfeld
- The Office
- Twin Peaks
- Star Trek
- Doctor Who
- Squid Game
- Schitt's Creek
- Mad Men
