Jessica Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey has declared he will "never read" his ex-wife's memoir in an awkward exchange about the tell-all book.

"You'll be shocked to hear that I have not - nor will I ever read that book," Lachey told Andy Cohen in a radio interview for SiriusXM.

"I obviously knew the book was coming out, but I lived the book, you know what I mean?"

The 98 Degrees singer went on to imply that Simpson's re-telling of their marriage might not be entirely accurate, adding: "I know what the truth is, so I don't need to read it or read someone's version of it in a story... I lived it."

When Cohen went on to press Lachey on the news that his ex-wife was partnering with Amazon to create a scripted fictional series based on her life, asking if he was concerned about his portrayal, he brushed it off.

"Nah, you know what man, I am thrilled to be where I am in life. That was 20 years ago," Lachey said.

"It's honestly the last thing on my mind these days unless someone brings it up. I understand why people want to ask but it's just so not a part of my life anymore that it's not even on my radar.

"She is doing her thing and I am doing mine and that's how it should be."

Lachey's comments come after Simpson shared an intimate photo of herself at her lowest point as she battled alcoholism in celebration of four years of sobriety.

The 'Come On Over' singer discussed surviving sexual abuse, overcoming drug and alcohol dependence and of course, her marriage to Lachey in Open Book, which was released last year.
