Meghan Markle's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show will "spark dread" at Buckingham Palace in the aftermath of the Duchess of Sussex's bombshell Oprah interview earlier this year, according to one royal expert.
In a preview clip of Meghan's appearance on the show, the former Suits star cheerfully recalls her days as a struggling actress, auditioning on the same lot the talk show is taped on and having to climb through the boot of her broken down car.
Angela Levin, author of Harry: A Biography of a Prince, told The Sun her sunny disposition in the sneak peek will do nothing to quell the concerns of the royal family, who will be "dreading everything she says" because she can be "so rude".
Levin referred back to the "extraordinarily bad timing" of Meghan and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah, when Harry's grandfather Prince Philip was very ill. Now, the royal expert is blasting Meghan as "desperate for publicity" for appearing on The Ellen Show while the Queen's health issues have forced her to cancel several public events and spend time in hospital.
"It is all about what is good for her. She's ruthless and she thinks of herself first," Levin said.
"Meghan was acting that everything was wonderful and so funny and isn't she sweet and a bit shy. And it's not going to work really.
"She's trying to be a really natural ordinary girl. She's desperate for publicity, desperate for people to watch and see her.
"There's a saying, 'people who go to the opening of an envelope'... Meghan will interview anywhere people want her."
According to People magazine, Meghan will also provide an update on her daughter Lilibet during the interview, joking with Ellen - who is Harry and Meghan's neighbour in Montecito - about how the baby is teething.
"[Give her] tequila, anything," Ellen reportedly quips about finding remedies to ease the pain.
"That's Auntie Ellen for you," Meghan reportedly responds, prompting Ellen to retort: "That's why I don't have kids."
