Rebel Wilson has revealed her own team was not onboard with her decision to lose weight and focus on her health, fearing it would take away from her successful brand as the "funny fat girl".
"And they were like, 'Why? Why would you want to do that?' Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person."
Wilson said that even though she was confident being bigger and would "rock a red carpet" even though she was "probably double the size, sometimes the triple the weight of other actresses", she was aware she had left some issues unaddressed.
"I knew deep down inside that some of the emotional eating behaviours I was doing were not healthy. I did not need a tub of ice cream every night," she explained.
"That was me numbing emotions using food, which wasn't the healthiest thing."
The Pitch Perfect star also reflected on the public interest her weight loss created after she announced she was setting herself a health challenge in 2020, documenting her journey on Instagram.
"Is that what a woman has to do in the world, lose weight to get attention?" she said.
"It's fascinating, why are people so obsessed with it? Like, with women in particular about their looks?
"I know what it's like to be a woman who is essentially invisible to most people because of not being seen as traditionally beautiful or whatever. It's crazy to try to fit that. It's just better to be the healthiest version."
