Demi Lovato has revealed some new ink on social media - a large, realistic tattoo of a "grandmother spider" on the side of their head.
The pop star, who recently showed off a freshly shaved hairstyle, got their latest bit of body art from celebrity tattoo artist Doctor Woo, who also shared images of the piece on Instagram.
"It was Grandmother Spider who taught us many things," Lovato wrote in a post explaining their new tattoo.
"She taught us about pottery and weaving. She taught us about fire and light and dark. She taught us that we are all connected on the web - each one of us having our place in this world."
In May last year, the 'Cool for the Summer' singer announced they identified as non-binary, and would use they/them pronouns from then on.
Lovato has spoken on several occasions about shedding the heteronomative feminine image they felt was thrust upon them in the music industry.
"I was ignoring my truth... in order to please stylists, or team members, or even fans that wanted me to be the sexy, feminine pop star in the leotard and look a certain way, you know?" they said on their podcast in May 2021.
The former Disney star also attributed their near-fatal 2018 drug overdose to years of suppressing who they really were.
