Courteney Cox has revealed she's no longer a fan of cosmetic procedures after having a moment of realisation that they were making her look "really strange".
Speaking to the Sunday Times, the Friends star admitted she struggled with accepting the ageing process at first, and was oblivious to how having work done to her face wasn't necessarily changing her appearance for the better.
"There was a time when you go, 'Oh, I’m changing. I'm looking older.' And I tried to chase that [youthfulness] for years," she said.
"And I didn't realise that, 'oh shit, I'm actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now'."
The 57-year-old star said she would caption an Instagram photo of those days with the words: "The day you realise what your friends were talking about."
"Because people would talk about me, I think," she added. "But there was a period where I went, 'I've got to stop. That's just crazy'."
Now looking to age gracefully without surgical intervention, Cox said the public scrutiny on her appearance remains "intense".
"But I don't know if it could be more intense than what I put on myself," she said. "I'm a product whore, I will try anything."
Musing on the fact that her next milestone birthday will be her 60th, Cox said: "Oh God, it's so hard to even hear or say. I can't believe it. There's nothing wrong with being 60, I just can't believe it. Time goes so fast."
The actress said she still felt young at heart, explaining that many of her friends are still in their 30s.
"I don't think about it. To me we're the same age until I actually study it," she said.
Despite feeling the pressure of getting older, Cox said there was "no question" that she's "more grounded" than ever.
"I've learnt so much in my life - what to enjoy, what to try to do more of and what to let go of."
