Rose Matafeo has vowed to "branch out" when it comes to her love life, insisting "no one should go out with a comedian" when discussing her former relationship with James Acaster.
The Starstruck creator and lead spoke with RNZ's Kim Hill over the weekend, where she was asked about her ex-boyfriend Acaster, who she dated around 2015.
"I've been on record as saying no one should ever go out with a comedian - including myself - I wouldn't recommend it," Matafeo laughed when Hill asked if she would recommend two comedians dating.
"No - I think comedians are great, but I think there are a lot of relationships where you meet because you are doing the same thing, and it's the equivalent of meeting someone in the office and hitting it off.
"But I think, for me, maybe I should branch out. So I think that's what I'm going to try and do in my 30s."
Matafeo was also previously in a relationship with Kiwi comedian Guy Williams.
Elsewhere in her chat with RNZ, Matafeo confirmed she had bought a flat in London, something she never thought possible.
"I bought a flat, yeah. It seems weird to say. I never thought I'd own a single thing in my life, like that. My parents never owned a house," she said.
The Edinburgh Comedy Award winner joked that she would "live in her uncle's backyard" if she ever moved back to Auckland.
The second season of Matafeo's BBC show Starstruck was released earlier this month and has already proved a winner with critics, with a current score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The London Evening Standard called Matafeo "endlessly watchable", while the Independent praised season two for being "just as huge-hearted as it was the first time around".
