Newshub took home four journalism awards at the 2022 NZTV Awards with investigations reporter Michael Morrah winning Reporter of the Year for the second year running, as well as scooping the Best News Coverage award for his series of stories on the COVID-19 testing programme.
Broadcaster Tova O'Brien was awarded Best Presenter News and Current Affairs for her work on Newshub Nation in 2021, while The Hui earned both the Best Current Affairs Programme award and for a second time, the Te Māngai Pāho Best Māori Programme award.
Three's second season of David Lomas Investigates took out the Best Original Reality Series trophy, while its rugby reality series Match Fit won Best Format Reality Series.
TVNZ's dystopian drama Creamerie nabbed the NZ On Air Best Drama Series, while Wellington Paranormal claimed Best Comedy Entertainment Programme. Have You Been Paying Attention host Hayley Sproull was awarded Best Presenter Entertainment.
RNZ's series on the notion of a predator free New Zealand by 2050 took out the Best Factual Series award, while Māori Television won the NZ on Air Best Documentary award for Loimata, The Sweetest Tears.
The NZ TV awards were celebrated online in a ceremony hosted by actor, writer and comedian Tom Sainsbury.
