It's Oscars day and I like to leave my Academy Award picks to the very last minute.
Whatever happens, it's an incredible achievement that The Power of the Dog leads with an epic 12 nominations.
So many incredible New Zealand creatives were involved in the telling of this phenomenal story and they all deserve to feel unfathomably proud.
Dame Jane Campion is the first woman to be nominated twice for Best Director. Her domination of the awards season sailed into stormy waters after her Williams sisters gaff during her Critics Choice Awards speech, but with the Directors Guild Award and BAFTA wins, my bet is she's still the Academy's Best Director.
That will make her only the third woman in the 94-year history of the Oscars to claim the award.
I'm gutted to not be back in Los Angeles covering the big day on such a special day for New Zealand filmmaking - thanks COVID. But I'm excited to be covering all of today's awards as they beam live into the Newshub newsroom.
Before the ceremony kicks off, here are my picks of who will win the major honours - and who should.
