The first trailer has been released for upcoming New Zealand comedy Nude Tuesday.
Starring Jemaine Clement, Jackie van Beek and Damon Herriman, the film promises a lot of full frontal nudity with the dialogue spoken entirely in an improvised gibberish language.
Nude Tuesday was directed by Armagan Ballantyne who collaborated on the story with van Beek, but the subtitles were written by British comedian and writer Julia Davis.
Newshub entertainment editor Kate Rodger has seen the film and said: "Who thought a subtitled film in a made-up language about an unhappily married couple who go on a sex retreat and fall in love with a goat could be this funny? Not me, but make no mistake Nude Tuesday is very, very funny and amongst the nudity and the laugh out loud lunacy there are some surprising home truths."
Van Beek co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in 2018 hit The Breaker Upperers. She said Nude Tuesday needed a cast of "playful, adventurous and extremely courageous actors", which it achieved.
Speaking of Flight of the Conchords star Clement, she added: "He's always the guy I write awkward sex scenes for because he's really, really good at them."
Nude Tuesday will be released in New Zealand cinemas on June 16. It has not yet been given a censorship rating.
