Will Smith reportedly plans to hide out at a luxurious retreat for stress recovery after slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars last week.
UK tabloid The Sun reports Smith will visit a high-end US sanctuary to take a work break after the scandal at the Oscars.
"The impact of the backlash has hit Will hard, so he will be getting help on dealing with stress," a Hollywood insider told The Sun.
"This is unquestionably the battle of his career. It will be a high-end retreat used by the rich and famous and he will be doing a lot of soul searching and working out how he can move forward.
"He hopes the conversation will move on so he can come back and salvage his reputation and career."
Smith has had widespread media attention since he slapped Rock across the face on stage at the Oscars awards ceremony. The slap came after Rock jokingly likened Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith and her shaved head to GI Jane.
The punchline struck a nerve with the Smiths, as Pinkett-Smith suffers from alopecia - a hair loss condition.
Smith has since apologised for his actions and Rock has declined to press charges.
He also resigned from Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, saying slapping Rock was "shocking, painful and inexcusable".
The 53-year-old actor won the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard, in which he plays the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.
